Loch Long: The Caves

Location:
Located on the east shore of Loch Long.

Dive information:
Rocky wall dive, lots of nooks and crannies to be explored.

Recommended for:
Suitable for most, difficult access may put off some folk.

Underwater wildlife:
Common at this site includes Leopard Spotted Gobies, Velvet Swimming Crabs, Edible Crabs and Starfish. Rock faces are covered in Anemones, Sea Squirts and Peacock Worms. Popular location for spotting Beryl, the local seal.

Directions from Glasgow:
Take the Loch Lomond road A82 then the A817 to Garelochhead. (GlenFruin Road) When you come to a roundabout turn right onto the A814. You'll pass Finnart and travel up the loch-side until you come to a small bridge (easy to miss) with some parking/laybys on either side.

Access:
Parking for 3 or 4 cars around the culvert. Climb down under the culvert and through to climb down the slope to the waters edge, careful of the slippy rock and seaweed.

Please note:
Dive site is a popular fishing location and a knife or shears is essential kit.
